Racing Calendar

There are certain meetings that are more important than others throughout the year as the season progresses. The calendar starts in Autumn, because this is when the Jump season starts, (and the flat season proper finishes).

The Jump season finishes with some major races at Cheltenham with a four day meeting in March, then the Grand National in April, and finally a mixed meeting of Jumps and Flat racing at Sandown. The flat season starts in the Spring with the Lincoln, and ends in the autumn. There are meetings on the Jump and the Flat inbetween these dates, but they are not as important.

November

Cheltenham. Mid November. Main Race:Power Gold Cup Chase. The start of the Jump season kicks off with this three day meeting.

Haydock Park. Mid/Late November. Main Race: Betfair Chase, Grade 1. This 3 mile race is a two day meeting attracting plenty of top quality horses

January

Ascot. Mid January. Main Race: Victor Chandler Chase Grade 1. This is seen as a test for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham with 2 mile chasers.

February

Ascot. Mid February. Main Race: Ascot Chase Grade 1. This is the last big Grade 1 horse race prior to Cheltenham.

Friday sees arguably the best jump race is the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
