The usual ways to bet are:-
1. On the internet, this is the new and fast growing way to bet, as you can secure 'Best Odds Price' (See Prices) which you will want to take every time you bet. This offer is not always available in the shops. You will need to open an account, and most bookies give 'free money' offers. Look on the right or on the main page for the links to the top websites. The best value for prices can be seen between different companies, and bets are easily placed, with no need to go trapsing about to the High St. to the different shops to get the better price. Most of these bookmakers also offer a phone service, to place a bet, or if there are any quieries.
2. On the High Street, with the usual well known names. These are the more old fashioned way to bet, and some of these shops can be rowdy at times, and are not always the best places for women to feel secure. They will offer only one set of prices, with limited special offers. Some Independent bookmakers may give more offers than the well known names.
3. On the track, with the bookies on the rails at the horse meeting. The price you see on the board, is the price you get as your bet is placed.
As with all betting on the internet always take 'best odds price' or 'Guarenteed Price' - they mean the same thing, if your bookie offers it. Betfair users will have to bet separately on win and place markets (for the more seasoned punter) The Betfair odds are usually better, at normal size stakes, but you cannot get best odds. This means once you strike the bet, that is the price you get. It is up to you to make the decicion, as to what is best. |
